Alpine trek under the spell of the Wildstrubel

The tour around the Wildstrubel is an alpine trek of a special kind and an unforgettable mountain experience. The Wildstrubel massif forms a mighty wall between the Bernese Oberland and Valais. Pass routes between the mountain valleys on either side have been known for centuries. They were once used as commercial routes, today they are used only for tourist purposes. The starting point of this fascinating 6-day alpine tour is Kandersteg. Distance trekking of several days is also possible without organisational complexity.

DAY 1: Journey to Kandersteg
Immerse yourself in the unique natural landscape all around Kandersteg.
Accommodation: Hotel Bernerhof, Kandersteg

DAY 2: Kandersteg - Rote Chumme - Engstligenalp - Adelboden
Between glacier and mountain lake, up on the Engstligen Ridge and across the flowery Alps down to the cosy mountain houses of the Engstligen Alp - and further down to Adelboden.
Hiking time: 7 hours
Accommodation: Waldhotel Huldi, Adelboden

DAY 3: Adelboden - Hahnenmoos Pass - Bühlberg - Lenk
Hahnenmoos Pass - under the spell of the Wildstrubel.
Easy and beautiful scenic pass route between both tourist centres Adelboden and Lenk.
Hiking time: 4 hours 30 minutes
Accommodation: Parkhotel Bellevue, Lenk

DAY 4: Lenk - Iffigen Alp - Rawil Pass - Lac de Tseuzier - Montana
Classical crossing of the Obersimmen Valley in Valais. Very worthwhile for the scenery and the botany. This Alpine crossing was once an important commercial route.
Hiking time: 7 hours
Accommodation: Hotel La Pairie, Montana

DAY 5: Montana - Ploumachit - Varneralp - Leukerbad
Scenic mountain trail with panoramic views of the Valais Alps and views down into the Rhone Valley..
Hiking time: 6 hours
Accommodation: Hotel Escher, Leukerbad

DAY 6: Leukerbad - Gemipass - Sunnbühl - Kandersteg
This classic Gemmi hike starts in Leukerbad, and in just two hours, leads you precipitously up to the Gemmi and afterwards gently down to Dauben Lake- a high alpine scenery on the historical and heavily frequented pass route from Valais in to the Bernese Oberland.
Hiking time: 6 hours
