The Brienzer Rothorn is on the border between the cantons Lucerne, Obwalden and Bern. It belongs geologically to the Wildhorndecke, a helvetic alpine nappe, and is built up of lime from the Cretaceous period.

Day 1: Interlaken
Interlaken, the resort steeped in tradition, between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz with a view to the world-famous "3 Stars": Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

Day 2: Interlaken-Brienz
Very diverse, sunny section of the lake Brienz circuit walk.
Journey with the Brienz Rothorn Railway
Interlaken: 580m, Brienz 590m

Day 3: Brienzer Rothorn-Arnihaagen-Brünigpass
Splendid high-altitude path. A well laid-out path carries first high over the forest border, then in gentle slope to the Brünig Pass.
Brienzer Rothorn: 2266m, Arnihaagen: 2207, Brünigpass: 1002m
Hiking time: 4 h
Overnight accomadation: Meiringen

Day 4: Meiringen
Enjoy the varied possibilities Meiringen has to offer:
Aare Gorge, Reichenbach Falls, Rosenlaui Valley, Trift Bridge.
Overnight accomadation: Meiringen

Day 5: Meirngen-Axalp
No excessive slopes. Highlight of the hiking path: the deep blue Lake Hinterburg, as well as the view of Briez, Lake Brienz and the opposite side of the valley.
Meiringen: 595m, Axalp 1535m
Hiking time: 5 h
Overnight accomadation: Axalp

Day 6: Axalp-Schweibenalp-Iseltwald-Interlaken
A descent which is quite diverse through pastures and by mountain woods to Iseltwald. Along the lake to Interlaken-Ost.
Axalp: 1535, Interlaken: 580m
Hiking time: 5 h
